I still remember the feeling of finishing my first painting that I knew belonged in a frame. I was in high school and had completed a painting of a dog. My dad helped me learn a few tricks about brushes and realism, and together we added the finishing touches. Before the paint was dry we were on our way to Michaels to buy a mat and frame. I love that painting. Not because it is the best painting I have ever seen, but because it sparked a love of painting within me.
I have always known that drawing isn't my favorite or most natural art form. So when I saw how well my painting turned out I started to believe that I could be and indeed am an artist. Over the years I have been blessed with the opportunities and resources to dabble in a variety of art forms. Like a kid in a candy shop I want to create art that is a little bit of everything. I get bored working in one art medium. I think of myself as a jack-of-all-trades artist and master of no particular style or medium. I create art because it makes me happy, is extremely fun, and is a talent I want to continue to develop.
